TOWSON, Md. – Junior Cary Hundley (Ellicott City, Md.) has been named the captain of the 2016-17 All-Goucher Team – her second consecutive year as a captain on the team.
Hundley was a critical member of the equestrian team at Goucher during the 2016-17 season. She was named the High Point Rider during the Zone IV Region I Championships held at UMBC in March, taking first place in both the Open Flat and Open Fences divisions.
She continued her winning ways at the Regional Championships held in Gaithersburg, Md. where she was named the Regional Champion in the Open Flat. During the competition, she also earned a spot at Zones in the Individual Open Fences and Cacchione Cup class – squaring off with the best riders from each region.
At Zones, she was named the Reserve Champion in the Cacchione Cup division, punching her ticket to the IHSA Horse Show in the class. She also took second in the Team Open Fences, third in the Individual Open Flat and eighth in the Individual Open Fences.
While prepping for the IHSA National Horse Show, Hundley headed to the 2017 ANRC National Championships where she earned ninth place in the High Point Rider standings in the National Division, posting a score of 72.33.
At the IHSA National Horse Show, Hundley competed against the 16 top riders in the nation and advanced to the final round of the USEF/Cacchione Cup Division. The Gophers went on to finish the year in eighth place with seven points, marking the sixth consecutive year that Goucher has completed its season in the top-ten in the nation.
The All-Goucher Team is selected by a panel of athletic administrators and represents the 10 most distinguished student-athletes and most outstanding coach during an academic year. The All-Goucher team was established in 2010-11 and is selected annually.
