Bio

Sally Baum enters her first season as the full-time Associate Director of Athletics and Goucher. She is also in her 39th year overall at the school, as well.

As the Associate Director of Athletics, Baum is in charge of day-to-day logistics of the athletics department, as well as game day operations, special events, the management of indoor facilities, and compliance. Baum also coordinates student-athlete programming and serves as the Senior Women's Administrator (SWA) for the department, as well.

Baum previously served as Goucher's women's tennis head coach for the Gophers for 35 years, where she established a strong winning tradition and her teams continue to excel on and off the court.

In her time as head coach, Baum was selected as a conference Coach of the Year 4 times, the most of any coach at Goucher in athletic department history. She had three conference Players of the Year and two conference Rookies of the Year along with numerous first and second team conference selections in both the Capital and Landmark Conferences.

Her teams twice earned the number one seed in the postseason tournament and twice reached the championship match as well as earning playoff berths as a top 4 seed in other seasons.

Thirteen of her teams won at least 10 matches in a year and the 1986-1987 squad still holds the single-season school record with 18 victories.

Off the court, a number of Baum's teams and players received All-Academic recognition from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, as well as on the conference level from both the CAC and the Landmark Conferences.

In 1991 Baum was inducted into the Slippery Rock University Athletics Hall of Fame for her career as an outstanding player in field hockey, softball, and lacrosse. She earned both her undergraduate degree in Health and Physical Education and her master's degree in Education from Slippery Rock, located in western Pennsylvania.

Baum, a native of Maryland, resides with her husband Michael in Fallston, Maryland.
