Hundley Claims 5th Consecutive High Point Rider Award

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Gophers were the highest scoring riding team once again today, finishing with 46 points.  The win boosts their already formidable lead in the Zone IV Region I standings to 61 points over the second place team, George Washington University.

In a truly impressive feat, senior Cary Hundley (Ellicott City, Md.) won both Open flat and fences again today for the fifth consecutive show.  She competed in her second ride-off of the weekend, and won that as well.  Hundley also qualified for the Regional Finals in both Open fences and Open flat this weekend.

Sophomore Courtney Sloan (Annandale, Va.) added 7 points to the card next, with a first-place finish in Intermediate Fences.  First-year Sarah Edmunds (Lancaster, Pa.) continued her successful weekend with a 2nd place finish in Open Fences, and 3rd in Intermediate Flat.  Sophomore Victoria Wheeler (Kinnelon, N.J.) placed first in Intermediate Flat in her first away horse show.

Sophomore Annika Field (Clinton, Wa.) placed first in Novice Fences, and seniors Stephanie Detwiler (Lancaster, Pa.), Ari Schlossberg (Barrington, Il.) and Kyle Kihn (Boulder, Co.) each claimed a first-place finish in Advanced Walk Trot Canter, Beginning Walk Trot Canter, and Walk Trot, respectively.

The Gophers take this weekend, and resume competition on November 19 at the Other Left Farm, in a show co-hosted by the University of Maryland and American University.
