Dear Prospective Athlete:

I am pleased that you have expressed an interest in the Goucher College Equestrian Program. Please browse the Equestrian Web site and read the Overview for comprehensive information about the program.

The varsity riding team is a strong contender in Zone IV, Region I intercollegiate competition. In 2005 and 2007, Goucher earned the Region Champion title and the Reserve Champion title in 2006, 2008 and 2009. The varsity riding team is competitive and the coaches are highly selective in choosing which students will best represent Goucher. Being a member of the team is an honor. Students are expected to adhere to the team philosophy and work diligently to master the riding skills and techniques necessary to achieve success.

If you are interested in being recruited for the varsity riding team, please fill out the Equestrian questionnaire and review the guidelines for sending video. These items are required if you’d like to be considered for recruitment, and are due by the date of your application deadline. This is the first step of the evaluation process. If you are accepted to Goucher and choose to enroll, further evaluation will take place at either summer or fall orientation. Exceptional candidates may be invited to the team at the time of acceptance to the college.

If you are interested in Goucher and have considered applying, I would encourage you to arrange a campus visit by contacting our admissions office. I will be happy to meet with you and give you a personal tour of our on-campus riding facilities.

To assist me with the recruiting process, I strongly encourage you to apply by the Early Action deadline, December 1, 2009. For regular admission, the application deadline is February 1, 2010.

If you have any questions regarding the riding team or the recruiting process, please contact me by e-mail: pzumbrun@goucher.edu or by telephone at 410-337-6247. I look forward to meeting you on your next visit to Goucher.

Sincerely,

Patte Zumbrun
