August 31, 2008

STEVENSON, Md. – Goucher stayed within a goal of Stevenson until less than seven minutes remained in the contest before the Mustangs tallied an insurance goal and recorded a 2-0 victory over the Gophers at the Black-Eyed Susan Tournament.

The Mustangs (1-1) grabbed a quick 1-0 advantage on a goal by Sarah Bauer just 5:55 into the contest and then neither team scored again until an unassisted goal by Margaret Wolfe with 6:52 remaining put Stevenson ahead 2-0.

Micki Manheimer (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) came off the bench to play in goal for the Gophers for most of the first half and all of the final 35:00, making seven saves while allowing just one goal during her stint.

The Gophers (0-2) finished in sixth place in the eight-team tournament.
