Shorewomen Pin 4-1 Setback on Gophers

Cadwallender, Spadanuta Hook Up on Goucher's Only Goal

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – By the time Goucher got on the scoreboard in tonight's game against Washington (Md.), the Shorewomen had already opened up a three-goal lead and were on their way to a 4-1 non-conference victory over the Gophers.

Candace Gaull provided the Shorewomen (8-1) with an early 1-0 advantage by scoring a goal just 4:22 into the contest. Kristin Bircsak and Danielle Rosato followed with goals at 10:36 and 12:12, respectively, extending the home team's lead to 3-0.

The Gophers (3-7) closed to within 3-1 midway through the first half on a goal by Mary Cadwallender (Fredericksburg, Va./The Maderia School) that was set up by Sara Spadanuta (Hackettstown, N.J./Warren Hills).

The Shorewomen, who finished with a 19-6 edge in shots, regained a three-goal lead early in the second half on a goal by Jaimie Barlow.
