Spadanuta Picks Up Fifth Assist on Goal by Metzger

STEVENSON, Md. –There were only :19 remaining in the first half today when Goucher 's Ali Metzger (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) tallied her third goal of the season to get the Gophers even with Stevenson, 1-1. But just 4:00 into the second half, the Mustangs regained the lead on a goal by Krissy Leventis and they went on to claim a 2-1 victory.
In defeating the Gophers (4-11) for a second time this season, the Mustangs (7-8) broke out on top on a goal by Kelli Battista just 7:05 into the contest. Metzger's goal, which was the successful conclusion to a penalty corner and was set up by Sara Spadanuta (Hackettstown, N.J./Warren Hills), created the 1-1 tie in the final minute of the opening period.
The assist was Spadanuta's team-leading fifth of the season.
Brittany Martin picked up an assist on Leventis' game-winning goal at 39:00.
The Mustangs finished with a 12-6 edge in shots.
