Warren Prestwich, who is in his third season as Goucher’s
field hockey coach, began playing the sport in Australia in 1969
when he was 6 years old. He has extensive international experience
as both a player and a coach, and his travels have taken him as far
as Europe to observe how the game is played in other parts of the
world.
Prior to joining Goucher’s coaching staff, Prestwich served
as an assistant coach for four seasons at William Smith College in
Geneva, N.Y., working primarily with the goalkeepers. Two of the
goalies he instructed there went on to earn Division III
All-America honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches
Association, and the Herons captured an NCAA Division III national
championship during his tenure.
At Goucher, he employs the Oceanic style of play that is common in
Australia.
