Greco's Goal Propels Gophers Past Aggies, 2-1

Rosse Opens Scoring, Picks Up Assist on Game-Winning Goal

October 1, 2008

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – With the score deadlocked at 1-1 and less than 15:00 showing on the clock today, the chances of Goucher and its opponent being tied at the end of regulation for a third consecutive game were getting stronger with each passing minute. But Julien Greco (Shutesbury, Mass./St. George's School) was bound and determined to make sure the Gophers finished off Delaware Valley without needing overtime.

The junior forward tallied his third goal of the season at 78:33, powering the Gophers to a 2-1 triumph over the Aggies (3-5-1).

Evan Rosse (Bedford, Mass./Bedford), who staked Goucher to a 1-0 lead when he notched his first goal of the season just 5:04 into the contest, was awarded an assist on Greco's game-winning goal. Alexis Mathov (Arlington, Va./Wakefield) picked up an assist on Rosse's goal.

Goucher (5-3-1) maintained its 1-0 advantage into the second half until Eric Maciag scored for Delaware Valley at 62:53.

The Gophers held the upper hand in shots, unleashing a total of 17 and limiting the Aggies to nine. Justin Holbrook (Claymont, Del./Wilmington Friends School) went the distance in goal for Goucher, making three saves.
