September 14, 2009
MADISON, N.J. – As a reward for making 10 saves and allowing
only one goal in two games, Goucher's Justin Holbrook
(Claymont, Del./Wilmington Friends School) today was named
Defensive Player of the Week in the Landmark Conference for the
sport of men's soccer for Sept. 7-13.
The senior goalkeeper stopped six shots in the Gophers' 4-1 triumph over McDaniel and four more in a 1-0 victory over Stevenson. He played all 90 minutes of both games and the only goal he gave up was in the 74th minute when Timothy Wineke of the Green Terror successfully converted a penalty kick.
Holbrook's shutout against the Mustangs was his third of the
season and lowered his goals-against average to 0.60.
