Holbrook Makes Finals in 100 Back, 500 Free

ST. MARY'S CITY, MD — Goucher's Wells
Holbrook (Knoxville, TN/Knox West) reached the
championship finals in two events at the 2007 Capital Athletic
Conference Swimming Championships.
The senior finished in sixth place in the 100-yard backstroke and
eighth in the 500-yard freestyle, completing those events in times
of :57.45 and 5:06.41, respectively. He also placed 13th in the 200
free with his time of 1:51.65, earning a total of 28 points for the
Gophers in the three individual events in which he competed.
Also securing points for Goucher in individual events were:
Sasha Verin (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. Hebron), 13th
place in the 200 butterfly (2:11.67) and 16th place in the 100 free
(:53.48); Mac McDonald (New Port Richey, FL/Avon Old
Farms), 15th in the 100 free (:52.24); and Michael
Polonchak (Harpers Ferry, WV/home school), 16th in the 200
breast (2:38.97).
Goucher finished in eighth place in the team standings with 150
points.
