Verin Makes 200 Fly Finals, Finishes in 6th Place 

Gophers Place Ahead of Drew in All Five Relay Events

KINGS POINT, N.Y. - Goucher had a swimmer finish as high as sixth place in an individual event at the inaugural Landmark Conference Swimming & Diving Championships.

Sasha Verin (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. Hebron) earned a spot in the championship finals of the 200-yard butterfly where he placed sixth with his time of 2:07.38

Verin also placed 11th overall in the 500-yard freestyle, completing that event in 5:22.39.

Mac McDonald (New Port Richey, FL/Avon Old Farms) reached the consolation finals in a pair of events, placing ninth in the 100 butterfly (:59.08) and 10th in the 50 free (:23.89).  Michael Polonchak (Harpers Ferry, WV) placed 12th in the 200 back (2:22.26).

The Gophers placed fifth ahead of Drew in all five relay events.

When the three-day meet came to a conclusion tonight, the Gophers were in sixth place with 119 points, just two points in back of Drew. Merchant Marine captured the conference title by collecting 633 points for a 67-point victory over runner-up Susquehanna (566 points). Catholic (303) was third and Scranton (287) fourth.
