Spartans, Sea Gulls Come Out on Top of Gophers
Shalamanov Places Second in 500 Free, 100 Butterfly

YORK, Pa. – Goucher produced the runner-up in three
individual events during today's triangular meet that included York
and Salisbury.
The Spartans and Sea Gulls were both victorious over the Gophers (2-5). York defeated Goucher, 163-38, and Salisbury, 147-56; Salisbury came out on top of head coach Tom Till's squad, 130-71.
The closest a Goucher swimmer came to finishing first in an event was Georgi Shalamanov (Velingrad, Bulgaria/St. St. Kiril & Metodi) in the 500-yard freestyle. He completed the race in 5:01.53, just two hundredths of a second behind Steve Yeager from York.
Shalamanov was also the runner-up to York's Clark Arnold in the 100-yard butterfly. Arnold's winning time was :54.89 and Shalamanov touched :87 later.
Kyle Williams (Andover, N.J./Newton) placed
second in the 100 back (:57.69).
