Gophers Suffer 8-1 Setback to Bullets
Baum Rallies from Down One Set to Prevail at No. 2 Singles

TOWSON, Md. - Steve Baum (Fallston, MD/Fallston) came back from being down a set to win at No. 2 singles for Goucher today, earning the only point for the Gophers (4-12) in an 8-1 loss to Gettysburg.
Baum defeated Patrick Dempsey 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (3).
At first singles, Michael Brooks (Old Westbury, NY/Solomon Schechter) was handed a 6-1, 6-0 setback by Dale Beshore of the Bullets.
Beshore and Kyle Naylor were victorious at No. 1 doubles, 8-3, over Brooks and Baum.
In the other doubles matches, Dempsey and Kevin Raynes knocked
off Doug Mangi (Hamden, CT/Hamden Hall) and
Michael Simon (Palo Alto, CA/Palo Alto), 8-3, at
No. 2, and Will Brinks and Christopher Bruno recorded an 8-0
triumph over Billie Weiss (Lutherville,
MD/Dulaney) and Jeff McLeod (Emmaus,
PA/Emmaus).
