Gophers Finish with 16 Points, Sixth Place in Team Scoring

SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Goucher's Will Evans III (Baltimore, Md./Overlea) placed third in one event and fourth in another today at the 2013 Landmark Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship.

The senior was the third runner across the finish line in the 200-meter dash as he completed the event in 23.29 seconds. He was clocked at 7.19 seconds in the 60-meter dash, good for fourth place.

Evans' time in the 200 dash was only 4-hundredths of a second off the fastest time in the event in the history of Goucher's indoor track and field program, which he established as a freshman back in 2010.

Evans was also part of Goucher's entry in the 4 x 200-meter relay, which placed fifth overall. The other three members of the entry, which turned in a time of 1:44.31, were Zachary Byrum (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point), Christian Ribeiro (Silver Spring, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) and Ben Criosby (Nashville, Tenn./Concord).

The Gophers also took fifth place in two other relays. In the distance medley relay, the foursome of Issac Jennings (Narberth, Pa./Harriton), Byrum, Gillian Ziegler (Chestnut Ridge, N.Y./Green Meadow Waldorf) and Nick Manta (North Wales, Pa./Abington Friends School) turned in a time of 11:41.81; in the 4 x 400-meter event, 3:50.83 was the combined time for Byrum, Ziegler, Crosby and Jennings.

With Evans securing six points for his third-place finish in the 200 dash and four more in the 60 dash, the Gophers concluded the meet in sixth place with a total of 16 points.
