Wenzler Earns Points for Goucher in High, Long Jumps

TOWSON, Md. – Chris Litz (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) became only the second individual in the history of Goucher's outdoor track and field program to clear 13-feet in the pole vault during today's Goucher Track & Field Classic.

Mark Ksiezopolski from York won the pole vault competition as he was one of two competitors to succeed at 13-feet, 6-inches. Litz finished in fourth place.

Scott Wenzler (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck) earned points for Goucher in two events, placing third in the high jump (5-feet, 5-inches) and sixth in the long jump (18-feet, 11.25-inches).

Steven Tenure (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) completed the 400-meter hurdles in :59.26, good for fourth place.

Two individuals picked up points for the Gophers in both the 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter runs. In the 3K, Adam Scipione (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) and Leon Davis (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) crossed the finish line back-to-back in fourth and fifth place, respectively. Scipione was clocked at 10:15.59 and Davis at 10:38.74.

In the 5K, Joe Negreann (Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek) took third (17:17.29) and Andrew Gethins (Mohegan Lake, N.Y./Lakeland) was sixth (19:19.79).

Goucher's entry in the 4 x 400-meter relay consisting of Tenure, Scipione, Tade Ade-Turton (Ocean City, Md./Parkside) and Wenzler crossed the finish line in 3:41.75 and sixth place.

In the overall team scoring, Goucher ended up seventh in a field of 11 teams with 41 points.
