Sophomore Darby Bauer (Perkiomenville, Pa.) of the Goucher College men's track & field team set new program records in two separate events over the weekend, and for his efforts, he has been named the Landmark Conference's Field Athlete of the Week for the period ending April 8.
Bauer began his weekend on Friday night at the Johns Hopkins Invitational, as he snapped the school's outdoor record in the hammer throw with a toss of 126 feet, two inches to place seventh overall in the event.
On Saturday, Bauer and the Gophers headed to the Muhlenberg Invitational, and once again the sophomore made history, as he broke the school record in the discus with a 122 feet, seven inch effort to finish 10th in the event.
Bauer also placed high in two other events at Muhlenberg, finishing ninth in the javelin with a toss of 124 feet, nine inches and 12th in the shot put with a 38 foot, 5.5 inch performance.
Bauer and the rest of the Goucher College men's track & field team returns to action on Saturday, as they travel to the Messiah College Invitational.
