Gophers Get Peak at Course for Regionals
Freshman Crosses Finish Line First for Goucher in 28:05

WAYNESBURG, Pa. – Running on the same course that will be used in November for the NCAA Division III Mid-East Regionals, Goucher had an individual place as high as 38th and finished in ninth place in the team scoring at today's Waynesburg Invitational.
Freshman Joe Negreann (Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek) was the first Goucher runner to cross the finish line. He completed the 8,000-meter race in 28:05. Senior Matt Spitznagel (Parkton, Md./Friends School of Baltimore), finished :45 after Negreann and in 57th place.
Adam Scipione (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) and Tom Stabler (Keene, N.H./Keene) were separated by just :04: Scipione was clocked at 30:30 and placed 94th overall and Stabler at 30:34 and 95th place.
The fifth runner to figure in Goucher's team score of 275 points was Brendan Ference (Smallwood, N.Y./Monticello). He turned in a time of 31:26.
Allegheny captured the team title with a score of 27 points.
