YORK, Pa. – Sophomore Joey Negreann (Englewood,
Colo./Cherry CreeK) was Goucher's top performer today at
the York Invitational, which was conducted in John Rudy Park.
Negreann completed the 8,000-meter race in 27:43.36, good for 24th place in a field of 96 runners. In the history of Goucher's cross country program, only eight male runners have recorded a faster time for an 8K.
The individual champion was Steven Tobochnik from Johns Hopkins and his winning time was 25:40.35.
The next two runners from Goucher to come in after Negreann were separated by just over :02: freshman Nick Manta (North Wales, Pa./Abington Friends School) placed 53rd overall with his time of 29:10.02 and junior Adam Scipione (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) was two spots back in 55th place (29:12.12).
Because they didn't have the required five runners cross the finish line, the Gophers were not awarded a team score.
