Gophers Continue Long Run of Academic Success

TOWSON, Md. — Another semester, another collective grade-point average of over 3.0 for the Goucher athletic department.

This past spring, the 19 Gopher athletic programs combined for a 3.19 GPA, eclipsing the 3.0 mark for a 29th consecutive semester. The 3.19 grade-point average is the highest for the department since the spring of 2008.

A total of 16 programs were over 3.0 individually, led by the 3.58 registered by the women’s cross country team. They were closely followed by men’s outdoor track & field (3.53) and volleyball (3.49). The men’s outdoor program had the highest jump among all programs, rising 0.55 from a 2.98 GPA in the fall.

Goucher’s team success was also reflected in the number of student-athletes named to the Landmark Academic Honor Rolls during the past year. A total of 63 Gophers were recognized by the conference for having a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or higher during 2013-14.

The Goucher athletic department has now had a collective GPA over 3.0 in every semester since the fall of 1999.
