Outdoor Long Jump Record Now Belongs to Macaluso
Mizzer Ties School Record, Places Eighth Overall in High JumpMarch 22, 2008
TOWSON, Md. - Dana Macaluso (Huntington, NY/Huntington) turned in the best outdoor performance in the long jump in the history of Goucher's women's track and field program and Dayna Mizzer (Prince Frederick, MD/Calvert) tied the outdoor school record in the high jump today at the Towson Invitational.
In addition, Macaluso and Mizzer were both on Goucher's 4 x 100-meter relay that broke the school record in that event.
Macaluso finished in sixth place and produced the second-best performance by a Division III athlete with her effort of 16-feet, 10.5-inches in the long jump.
Only one Division III athlete outperformed Mizzer in the high jump as she placed eighth overall with her jump of 4-feet, 9-inches.
Macaluso and Mizzer were joined by Sheba Newman-Blount (Lanham, MD/Bishop Ireton) and Catherine Abbondanza (Yarmouth, ME/North Yarmouth Academy) in the 4 x 100 relay which captured fifth place with its time of :52.97.
Macaluso also placed sixth in the 200-meter dash (:27.12), Newman-Blount made the finals of the 100-meter dash, finishing in seventh place (:13.85), and Mizzer advanced to the finals in the 100-meter hurdles where her time of :17.07 landed her in eighth place.
There was no team scoring at the meet.
