Macaluso Takes Top Honors in Long Jump

Throw of 107-8 Makes Cooney Runner-Up in Hammer Throw

TOWSON, Md. – Dana Macaluso (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) captured first place in the long jump competition and Abby Cooney (Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional) was runner-up in the hammer throw at today's Goucher Track & Field Classic.

It was an effort of 15-feet, 9.75-inches that allowed Macaluso to place first in the long jump. She also finished third in the 400-meter run (1:04.07) and fourth in the 200-meter run (:28.75).

A throw of 107-feet, 8-inches was Cooney's best of the day in the hammer and was only 19 inches short of the first-place performance by Caitlin Mahan from York.

Barb Koziel (Holland Twp., N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) completed the 3,000-meter run in 12:44.61, good for sixth place.

As a team, Goucher finished in seventh place with 41 points.
