Newman-Blount Comes In First in 400 Hurdles
Cooney Turns in Pair of Second-Place Performances

YORK, Pa. – Goucher's Sheba Newman-Blount (Lanham,
Md./Bishop Ireton) was the first athlete to cross the
finish line in the 400-meter hurdles today at the York Charity
Open.
Newman-Blount's winning time in the 400 hurdles was 1:08.31. She was also the runner-up in the 100-meter dash, which she completed in :13.46.
Abby Cooney (Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional)
registered distances of 26-feet, 11-inches in the shot put and
113-feet, 4-inches in the hammer throw to place second in both
events. Kanika Staten (Columbia, Md./Long Reach)
took third place in the 400-meter run (1:08.10).
