Gophers Handle Gators, Return to Plus Side of .500

Quinn Logs Seven Kills, .429 Attack Percentage in 25-17, 25-16, 25-15 Win

TOWSON, Md. – Goucher snapped a three-match losing streak and got back on the positive side of the .500 mark by turning back Notre Dame (Md.), 3-0, in the Sports & Recreation Center tonight.

Set scores were 25-17, 25-16, 25-15.

Megan Smith (Honolulu, Hawaii/Long Beach Polytechnic) contributed a team-high 16 kills and 11 digs to the victory and Kasey Quinn (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) logged seven kills and a season-high .429 hitting percentage. Rebecca Schaefer (River Edge, N.J./River Dell) led the Gophers in digs (12) and Claire Sauvage-Mar (New Delhi, India/American Embassy School) was credited with 25 assists.

The victory was Goucher's sixth straight in the series between the two local rivals. The Gators (3-9) last defeated the Gophers on September 28, 2006.

In addition, the Gophers (8-7) extended extend their winning streak at home against non-conference opponents to 18 matches.
