Lambert Leads the Way in Losing Cause for Gophers
HUNTINGDON, Pa. — Juniata used a 14-0 run to pull away from Goucher on its way to a 71-33 conference victory.
Ebonie Diggs (Mt. Rainier, Md./Northwestern) and TaQuasia Lambert (Brooklyn, N.Y./Patapsco) each hit layups early to tie the game twice early, but Goucher (5-10, 1-4 Landmark) could never manage to take the lead.
Juniata (12-4, 3-2 Landmark) held Goucher scoreless over a 6:29 span, extending a lead of 11 to an insurmountable 34-9 edge early in the first half.
The Gophers were doomed by turnovers, giving the ball away 15 times in the game's first 20 minutes. At the break, the team faced a 36-11 deficit, with only Lambert totaling more than two points in the frame.
The Gophers held Juniata to a 37.9% clip from the floor in the first half, but the Eagles hit on 14 of 17 free throws to boost their early lead.
The Eagles heated up from the field after the break, shooting 50.0% from the floor. 10 players tallied points for the hosts in the second half, helping to close out the victory.
Lambert was the only Goucher player in double figures, with 11. She also lead the team with 11 rebounds. The junior now has five double-doubles on the year.
On the other side, Kate McDonald was the game's leader in points and rebounds with 14 apiece.
