SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Goucher College women's basketball team (0-7, 0-1 Landmark) fell on the road to Susquehanna (4-1, 1-0 Landmark), 69-25, Saturday afternoon in the Landmark Conference season opener for both teams.
Nailah Jones (Glenn Dale, Md.) led the Gophers in the first quarter with four points, but Susquehanna was able to open up a 21-5 lead on Goucher after the first 10 minutes of play. Goucher played a tighter game during the second quarter, only allowing Susquehanna to score 11 points to their 10, but the Riverhawks still held a sizable 32-15 lead over the Gophers into intermission.
In the second half, points were tough to come by for the Gophers, as Susquehanna pulled away over the final 20 minutes of action to take the Landmark Conference match-up.
Overall, junior Nicole Wolard (Tampa, Fla.) led the Gophers in scoring yet again, finishing with 13 points. It marked the fifth time in seven games on the year that Wolard finished in double-figures for the Gophers. Meanwhile, Jones finished the game with 10 points, as she has now scored in double-digits for the sixth time in seven contests on the season to date.
The Gophers return to play Wednesday to play McDaniel at 6 p.m. in the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
