Criteria Includes Accomplishments in All Areas of College Life

June 11, 2008

MADISON, N.J. - Emily Blatter (Lexington, VA/Rockbridge County), a senior attacker on Goucher's women's lacrosse team, was selected as the 2008 Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete for her sport, according to an announcement issued today by the conference.

A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletic directors and sports information directors chose eight athletes as Senior Scholar-Athletes, picking one for each of the spring sports sponsored by the conference. The honorees had to have a minimum GPA of 3.2 and were selected based on their accomplishments in all areas of college life including athletics, academics and other extracurricular activities.

Blatter, who graduated in May with a degree in English, concluded her four years at Goucher with a 3.57 cumulative GPA, while distinguishing herself as one of the institution's top female lacrosse players. She supplied the Gophers with 68 goals and 33 assists in 2008 to become the fourth-leading all-time scorer in the history of school's women's lacrosse programs with 211 career goals.

The recipient of Goucher's Coaches Award as the outstanding female student-athlete in 2007-08, Blatter was a first-team selection on the All-Landmark Conference Women's Lacrosse Team and a second-team pick on the All-Cheseapeake Region Women's Lacrosse Team following her final season with the Gophers.
