TOWSON, Md. – Marlo Tersigni (Boston, Mass./Lawrence Academy) scored four times and set up four goals today in leading Goucher to a 19-6 victory over Notre Dame (Md.), the Gophers' first win over the Gators since 1993.

The senior midfielder bunched two of her goals and one of her assists into the opening 5:20 as the Gophers (1-1) bolted out to a 5-0 lead. Just :10 after Mary Lambert (Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill) tallied Goucher's fifth goal, the Gators (0-2) got on the scoreboard for the first time on an unassisted goal by Lauren Terry.

After Terry scored again with 20:12 remaining in the first half to knock the Gators' deficit down to 6-2, the Gophers went on a run of 10 unanswered goals – scoring the final six goals of the period to claim a 12-2 lead at the half and then the first four goals of the second half –to open up a commanding 16-2 advantage.

In addition to her four goals and four assists, Tersigni won nine draws, scooped up 11 ground balls and caused six opponent turnovers.

Jenny Lucey (Newbury, N.H./Kimball Union Academy) and Lambert both contributed three goals to the victory, while Colleen Cole (Holliston, Mass./Northfield Mt. Hebron School), Becca Smith (Leesburg, Va./Heritage) and Nina Planson (New Gloucester, Maine/Hebron Academy) all notched two goals apiece.

The Gophers finished with a 39-9 edge in shots.
