TOWSON, Md. – Goucher allowed an 11-3 lead five minutes into the second half to completely evaporate this afternoon, but after New England strung together eight goals to pull into an 11-11 tie, the Gophers re-grouped and tallied the final three goals of the game to emerge with a 14-11 triumph over the Nor'easters.

The Gophers (2-1) led 9-3 at the end of the first half and notched the first two goals of the second period, taking an 11-3 lead when Becca Smith (Leesburg, Va./Heritage) successfully converted a free-position shot with 25:38 left to play.

The eight-goal run by the Nor'Easters (0-1) began with a free-position goal by Amanda Barker with 24:29 remaining and concluded when a free-position shot by Danielle Cate went in with 10:34 showing on the clock.

The 11-11 tie lasted for only :41 until Marlo Tersigni (Boston, Mass./Lawrence Academy) put Goucher back in front with an unassisted goal. Mary Lambert (Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill) stuck her fourth goal of the contest with 8:59 left to play to put the Gophers ahead 13-11 and just :13 later, an unassisted goal by Cindy Villarreal (Kensington, Md./Wheaton) completed the scoring.

The Gophers finished with a 28-22 advantage in shots. Lambert had one assist to go along with her team-high total of four goals. Tersigni matched Lambert's five-point effort by scoring three times and setting up a pair of goals.
