Landmark Honors Matthews for Performance in Goal

Sophomore GK Makes 31 Saves in Pair of Contests

MADISON, N.J. - For her performance in Goucher's games against Notre Dame (Md.) and Susquehanna, freshman goalkeeper Kellen Matthews (Northboro, MA/Algonquin Regional) today was named Defensive Player of the Week in the Landmark Conference for the period of Sept. 24-30.

Matthews, the current conference leader in saves (96), stopped nine shots for the Gophers in their 2-1 loss to Notre Dame and then established a new Landmark Conference single-game record with her 22-save effort against Susquehanna.

The Gophers' starting goalkeeper in all nine games so far this season, Matthews ranks third in the Landmark Conference with an .814 save percentage.
