Gophers Break Through in 85th Minute

Pumilia One Behind Moser in Goals Scored

Oct. 6, 2007

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Even a nine-goal deficit didn't keep Goucher from battling to the end today and the effort was rewarded with a goal that allowed the Gophers to avoid being shut out. Instead, the unassisted goal by Sisley Pumilia (Chesterfield, NH/Keene) in the 85th minute closed out the scoring in Moravian's 9-1 Landmark Conference victory over head coach Tati Korba's squad.

Pumilia's goal was her sixth of the season, leaving her one behind Dee Moser (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg), who has supplied the Gophers (3-8, 0-3 Landmark) with a team-high seven goals in 2007.

Jenelle Mirro and Nina Rizzo combined to score five of Moravian's nine goals. Mirro tallied the first two goals of the contest before a goal by Mallory Goggins provided the Greyhounds (11-2, 2-0 Landmark) with a 3-0 lead in the 31st minute. Rizzo followed with back-to-back-to-back goals, bunching all three into a span of 9:17.

The Greyhounds finished with a 32-3 edge in shots.
