TOWSON, Md. - Goucher limited Scranton to one goal in the first half of today's Landmark Conference game at Beldon Field even though the Royals unleashed a total of 31 shots. In the second half, however, the Gophers weren't as fortunate.

The Royals (7-8-1, 5-1 Landmark) erupted for five goals in the final 45:00 to earn the 6-0 victory they needed to clinch the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Landmark Conference championship tournament.

The only goal of the opening 45:00 was unassisted and scored by Kaitlin Baker at 4:49. The Royals didn't score again until Baker set up a goal by Caroline Corasaniti at 47:05.  Just :30 later, a goal by Emily McPhee made the score 3-0.

The Royals finished with a commanding 53-6 advantage in shots, 53-6.

Kellen Matthews (Northboro, MA/Algonquin Regional) turned away 14 of Scranton's shots. The freshman goalkeeper has supplied the Gophers (3-11, 0-5 Landmark) with 10 or more saves in 10 games so far this season.
