Gophers Suffer 7-0 Setback in Season Finale 

11 More Saves for Matthews Raises Total to 175

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Goucher's 2007 season came to a conclusion today when the Gophers bowed to Juniata, 7-0.

The Eagles' 12 shots in the first half of the Landmark Conference tilt produced three goals, starting with one by Elizabeth Van Blarcom at 33:27. Amanda Broadwell and Erin Eddinger also scored for Juniata in the first 45:00.

Goals by Caitlin Bigelow and Broadwell in the opening 5:00 of the second half enabled the Eagles (9-4-3, 2-2-2 Landmark) to extend their lead to 5-0. Juniata's final two goals were scored by Katie Young at 56:58 and Maura Collins at 73:04.

In addition to her goal, Bigelow had two assists in the contest.

Freshman goalkeeper Kellen Matthews (Northboro, MA/Algonquin Regional) stopped eight shots and finished her rookie season with the Gophers with a total of 175 saves.
