September 12, 2009
TOWSON, Md. – Goucher stayed within a goal of Immaculata
today until the visiting Mighty Macs stuck goals in the 64th and
67th minutes on the way to a 3-0 victory over head coach Tati
Korba's Gophers.
The Mighty Macs (2-1-1) outshot the Gophers, 12-4, in the first half, but led only 1-0 at the break on a goal by Bridget Cunningham at 20:02.
Just 2:34 separated goals in the second half by Kim Steinke and Jen Steinke.
For the third time in the four games Goucher (1-3) has played so
far this season, junior goalkeeper Kellen Matthews
(Northboro, Mass./Algonquin Regional) reached double
figures in saves. She turned away 14 shots to become only the
fourth goalkeeper in the history of Goucher's women's soccer
program to surpass 350 saves during her career.
