October 17, 2009
BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Goucher answered a goal Moravian scored
late in the first half of this afternoon's Landmark Conference
contest and found itself locked in a 1-1 tie with under 15 minutes
remaining. But the Greyhounds regained the lead on a goal by Tess
Lowe at 78:09 and went on to defeat the Gophers, 3-1.
Lowe also tallied the only goal of the first half at 43:31, but head coach Tati Korba's Gophers (3-9-1, 0-4 Landmark) trailed 1-0 only until an unassisted goal by Shay Kettner (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) at 48:37 created the 1-1 tie.
Arielle Caldas put Moravian (8-5-1, 3-0 Landmark) up 3-1 with a goal at 79:01. The Greyhounds finished with a 21-2 advantage in shots.
With a nine-save performance against Moravian today, junior
goalkeeper Kellen Matthews (Northboro, Mass./Algonquin
Regional) passed Tara Haag (2001-04) and now ranks No. 3
all-time in career saves in the history of Goucher's women's soccer
program. Haag made 408 saves during her four seasons with the
Gophers, while Matthews' total stands at 415.
