Cardinals Bunch Three Goals into Span of 4:33

GK Matthews Makes Eight Saves in 47th Consecutive Start

TOWSON, Md. — Goucher quickly went from being in a scoreless tie to being three goals down when Catholic did all of its scoring in a span of 4:33 early in the second half tonight on the way to a 3-0 Landmark Conference victory over the Gophers.

The Gophers (3-10-1, 0-5 Landmark) made it to halftime without giving up a goal even though they were outshot 12-1 in the opening 45:00. But the first shot the Cardinals (13-2, 3-1 Landmark) got off in the second half turned into a goal by Kelly Donnelly at 46:33.

Catholic's second shot of the period also produced a goal, one by Courtney Orgill at 49:32.

Michelle Spadaro closed out the scoring with an unassisted goal at 51:06.

The Cardinals finished with a 25-2 advantage in shots. Kellen Matthews (Northboro, Mass./Algonquin Regional) started her 47th consecutive game in goal for Goucher and was credited with eight saves.
