Goucher Falls To Moravian

Goucher Falls To Moravian

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Goucher College Women's Soccer Program (5-5-2, 0-3-0 Landmark) sustained a loss to Landmark rival, Moravian College, on Saturday afternoon.

Goucher had the first opportunity and corner kick of the match in the opening minutes, but it was Kristen Parry with the Greyhounds who found the back of the net 12 minutes into the contest.  Parry would score again approximately 3 minutes later off of a Greyhound corner kick.  Goucher battled hard with shots from junior Camryn Mackey (Washington D.C.) and sophomore Izzy Suazo (Brooklyn, N.Y.) to try to get onto the scoreboard, but Moravian's defense held strong.

The Greyhounds would score one more time off of a Cat Cole header to put the Gophers in a 3-0 deficit going into the halftime.

Goucher looked to get on the scoreboard early in the second half with a good scoring chance and shot from Mackey - and the Gophers had two breakaway opportunities in the second half by Suazo and senior Sasha Jimenez (Wellington, Fl.) - but all three of these attempts were saved by Moravian's goalkeeper. The Greyhounds would score one more time on a goal by Caitlyn Sugerman to make the final score 4-0.

Moravian outshot Goucher 18-11. Shots on goal, however, were much more even as Moravian had eight on the frame to six for the Gophers. Goucher's starting first-year goalkeeper Christina Charikofsky (Eldersburg, Md.) finished the afternoon with 4 saves in 76:40 minutes of work.

Goucher returns to Landmark Conference action when they play at the Catholic University of America on Wednesday, October 11th at 4:00 pm.
