Gophers Come Away with Split, Remain Above .500

Hasse Turns In First-Place Performance in 200 Breast

TOWSON, Md. – Emily Hasse (Montvale, N.J./Pascack Hills) turned in the only first-place performance in an individual event for Goucher today during a meet that included two other Landmark Conference schools.

The Gophers (3-2) came away from the meet with a split as they knocked off Juniata, 54-37, but suffered a 69-25 loss to Scranton.

Hasse captured first place in the 200-yard breaststroke. Her winning time was 3:00.84.

Goucher was also awarded first place in the 400-yard free relay. The quartet of Britt Hogstrom (Killington, Vt./Woodstock Union), Sandy Okun (Stevenson, Md./McDonogh School), Caroline Marris (Merchantville, N.J./George School) and Mara Baron (Wayzata, Minn./Breck School) completed the event in 4:03.99.

Bethany Natoli (Alexandria, Va./O'Connell) of the Gophers was the runner-up in the 200 back with her time of 2:24.29 and Goucher also captured second place in the 400 free relay (4:03.99).
