Hogstrom Takes First Place in 50 Free by :00.35
Sutherland Finishes as Runner-Up in 100 Fly, 100 Breast

YORK, Pa. – Britt Hogstrom (Killington,
Vt./Woodstock Union) accounted for the only first-place
performance by a Goucher swimmer during today's triangular
competition that involved a pair of Capital Athletic Conference
schools.
The Gophers (5-4) were beaten by both of their opponents: 149-54 by Salisbury and 133-70 by York. The Sea Gulls emerged with two wins as they also defeated the Spartans, 124-79.
Hogstrom touched 35-hundredths of a second before York's Ashley Stanton in the 50-yard freestyle. Hogstrom's winning time was :26.16.
Sam Sutherland (North Reading, Mass./Austin Prep) was the runner-up in two events. She placed second behind Salisbury's Kati Turner in the 100 butterfly as she completed the event in 1:04.48 and trailed only Salisbury's Kelly Closs in the 100 breast where she posted a time of 1:15.30.
Bethany Natoli (Alexandria, Va./O'Connell)
turned in a time of 1:05.35 in the 100 back, good for second place.
