Gophers Take 166-86 Direct Hit from Crusaders

Hasse Takes First Place in 200 IM After Seconds in Two Events

October 24, 2009

TOWSON, Md. — Goucher managed to take second place in seven of the contested individual events in today's season-opening Landmark Conference meet against Susquehanna, but the Gophers could never break through with a first-place performance until the Crusaders were well on their way to a 166-86 victory.

Until Emily Hasse (Montvale, N.J./Pascack Hills) was awarded first place in the 200-yard individual medley with her time of 2:41.21 and the Gophers (0-1, 0-1 Landmark) were uncontested in the 400-yard freestyle relay, the Crusaders (1-0, 1-0 Landmark) received first-place performances in the 400 medley relay and the first 11 individual events.

Prior to 200 IM, Hasse was runner-up in both breaststroke events as she completed the 50 in :38.60 and the 100 in 1:23.29. Lindsey Phillipson-Weiner (Merion, Pa./Lower Merion) and Britt Hogstrom (Killington, Vt./Woodstock Union) also placed second in a pair of individual events: Phillipson-Weiner in the 500-yard freestyle (5:51.33) and 1000 free (11:58.55); Hogstrom in the 50 free (:26.28) and 200 free (2:06.91).

Goucher's Victoria Adinolfi (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) was runner-up in the 100-yard butterfly with her time of 1:08.39.
