Cooley Lands on All-CAC Second Team

Sophomore Goes 8-13 at No. 2 Singles for Gophers

May 4, 2007

ST. MARY'S CITY, MD — Tanya Cooley (Arlington, VA/Wakefield), who played exclusively at No. 2 in Goucher's singles line-up in 2006-07, is the school's lone representative on the 2007 All-Capital Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Team, which was revealed today.

The sophomore is the only player from a school other than Mary Washington or Salisbury to earn a spot on the All-CAC squad as she was placed on the second team at second singles in a vote by the conference's eight head coaches. Mary Washington, which captured its fourth straight CAC title, swept all six singles positions on the first team and Salisbury players take up five spots on the second team.

Cooley fashioned a 9-14 record in singles play this season, going 8-13 in dual matches and 3-4 in the Gophers' seven CAC matches.

By winning five of their final seven matches, head coach Sally Baum's Gophers finished the 2006-07 campaign with an 8-13 record.
