Gophers Fall to Flying Dutchmen, Slip to 3-2

Scott-Giry Prevails 6-0, 6-0 Over Heintzelman at No. 4 Singles

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Senior Chloe Scott-Giry (Amagansett, N.Y./The Ross School) produced Goucher's lone point with a win at fourth singles today in the Gophers' 8-1 loss to Lebanon Valley.

The Flying Dutchmen (7-2) took a 3-0 lead into singles play by sweeping the three doubles matches. At No. 1, Jan White and Charissa Nordall turned back Tanya Cooley (Arlington, Va./Wakefield) and Scott-Giry, 8-6.

Cooley's record this season at first singles slipped to 3-2 when she bowed to Sarah Grodzinski 6-4, 6-1. At No. 2, Nordall was a 6-2, 6-0 winner over Mouna Attarha (Piedmont, Calif./Piedmont).

Scott-Giry prevented the Gophers (3-2) from being swept in singles play with her 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Shayne Heintzelman.

Goucher's Mara Bergman (Summit, N.J./Summit) captured the first set in her match at No. 5 against Sara Wagner, but Wagner rallied for a 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7) victory.
