Gophers Handle Cougars for Second Time in 2007

3-0 Victory Follows Loss to Crimson Eagles

LANHAM, Md. - Goucher picked up its second win of the season over Washington Bible tonight, but also was tagged with a loss to Philadelphia Biblical.

Game scores in the 3-0 victory over Washington Bible were 30-16, 30-14, 30-22.

Kasey Quinn (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) was credited with a team-high 10 kills and a .261 attack percentage in the three games against the Cougars, who also suffered a 3-0 loss to the Gophers in the Sports & Recreation Center back on Sept. 11. Claire Sauvage-Mar (New Dehli, India/American Embassy School) and Catie Ditmore (Santa Barbara, CA/Laguna Blanca) finished with 14 and 10 assists, respectively, and together they served seven aces.

Before they defeated Washington Bible, the Gophers (7-8) were beaten by Philadelphia Biblical, 3-0. Game scores were 30-25, 30-22, 30-27.

Megan Smith (Honolulu, HI/Long Beach Polytechnic) supplied the Gophers with 17 kills, nine digs and three blocks against the Crimson Eagles (15-4). Sauvage-Mar and Ditmore finished with 17 assists apiece, and Sarah Kendall (North Plainfield, NJ/Rutgers Prep) led Goucher in digs (17).
