Gophers Win Twice, Bow to Seahawks 

Team's Record Against Non-Conference Foes: 10-6

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. -  Goucher improved to 10-6 against non-conference opponents this season with wins over Mount St. Mary (N.Y.) and Bryn Mawr, along with a loss to St. Mary's (Md.), today.

The Gophers needed only three games to dispose of Mount St. Mary (5-11) as they prevailed 30-17, 30-24, 30-15.  Megan Smith (Honolulu, HI/Long Beach Polytechnic) contributed 12 kills, 10 digs and a pair of service aces to the victory.

Smith recorded 20 kills, 14 digs and two blocks in the 3-1 triumph over Bryn Mawr (30-19, 28-30, 30-15, 30-21). It's the fifth time in her career that the sophomore outside hitter has had 20 or more kills in a match.

Kasey Quinn (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) and Claire Sauvage-Mar (New Dehli, India/American Embassy School) combined for 26 kills and 21 digs against the Owls (8-7); Sauvage-Mar and Catie Ditmore (Santa Barbara, CA/Laguna Blanca) were credited with a combined total of 50 assists.

Smith had her third double-double of the day - this time 10 kills and 10 digs - in the St. Mary's match. The Seahawks (18-2) defeated the Gophers in three games; game scores were 30-20, 30-13, 30-26.

Sarah Kendall (North Plainfield, NJ/Rutgers Prep) supplied the Gophers (10-9) with 46 digs in the three matches.
