Gophers Subdue Warriors, Bow to Blue Jays

Senior Libero Surpasses 1,300 Career Digs

GRANTHAM, Pa. - Goucher split a pair of matches today - and in the process, Sarah Kendall (North Plainfield, NJ/Rutgers Prep) became only the fifth player in the history of the school's volleyball program to surpass 1,300 career digs.

Kendall, a senior libero, was credited with a team-high 21 digs in the first match of the day, a 3-0 loss to Elizabethtown. Game scores were 30-17, 30-24, 30-20.

The Gophers (18-13) came back to defeat Lycoming, 3-0, in the second match. Game scores were 30-23, 30-24, 30-23.

With another 14 kills against the Warriors (5-26), Kendall's career total stands at 1,328. Goucher's all-time leader in digs is Shannon Towner, who accumulated 2,376 while playing for the Gophers from 1995-98.

Megan Smith (Honolulu, HI/Long Beach Polytechnic) finished with a double-double of 16 kills and 13 digs against Lycoming.

Smith also registered a double-double in the opening match against the Blue Jays (26-6) as she had 14 kills and 12 digs.
