John Caslin is into his second decade as the head coach of Goucher's cross country programs. In addition, he serves as the school's head track and field coach, a position he has held for eight years.

Caslin will be assisted in 2007 by Paul Hannsen and Erick Camodeca.

One of the crowning achievements in the history of Goucher's cross country program took place under Caslin: Jeff Olenick was the ninth male runner to cross the finish line at the 2000 NCAA Division III Championship conducted in Spokane, Wash. On four occasions during his tenure, Caslin produced the Runner of the Year in the Capital Athletic Conference and another time the CAC Rookie Runner of the Year.

Academically, Caslin's runners have performed admirably over the years: 40 have attained national All-Academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. In 2003, Caslin's seven female runners achieved a 3.764 cumulative grade-point average during the fall semester, the highest cumulative GPA of all Division III women's programs throughout the nation. Both of his cross country teams achieved All-Academic honors from the coaching organization in 2006 -- the 10th time for his women and ninth for his men.

Prior to his arrival at Goucher, Caslin was a successful coach at both Ursuline Academy in Delaware and Chantilly High School in Virginia.

Caslin and his wife Rose reside in Catonsville, Md., with their three children, Rachel, 16, Jason, 11, and Zachary, 9.
