Senior Christina Yarrish (Hummelstown, Pa.) continued to add to her goal total for the young 2018 season this past week for the women's soccer team, and for her efforts, she has been named the Goucher College Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sept. 16, 2018.
In the Gophers' lone match of the week last Wednesday at Alvernia, Yarrish poured in both goals in a 2-2, double-overtime draw with the host Golden Wolves.
Her first score of the contest came in the 18th minute, where she converted on a successful penalty kick to give Goucher an early 1-0 lead. Then, in the 70th minute, she tallied her second score of the night, tying the match up at 2-2. That score would hold over the next 40 minutes of play, as the Gophers' record on the year went to 2-2-1 with the result.
For the year, Yarrish has been the unquestioned leader of the Gopher offense, scoring four goals in five matches. She has already matched her best offensive season (2017) with her four goals, as she has now scored 11 goals in her career at Goucher.
Yarrish and the rest of the Goucher College women's soccer team returns to action on Wednesday, hosting Widener at Beldon Field for a 7 p.m. start.
