TOWSON, MD— Athletic Director, Geoff Miller, announced today that Brandon Harrison has been named the Director of Athletic Communications at Goucher College.
“We are excited for Brandon to get started” says Miller. “Out of all of our applicants, Brandon had the most creative ideas for how we can push our social media platforms, website, and video streaming operations to a higher level, and how we can better integrate our efforts with the overall strategy of the Office of Communications.” Miller also commented that he was “especially impressed with Brandon’s ability to communicate. He will get along exceptionally well with coaches here.”
Harrison comes to Goucher from Alfred University where he served as the Sports Information Graduate Assistant from the fall of 2014 before graduating with his Master of Business Administration degree in the spring of 2016. Prior to AU, he worked at Alfred State College as the athletic department Staff Assistant, specializing in event management and student-athlete compliance.
“I am incredibly excited that Geoff Miller and the athletic staff at Goucher College have given me the opportunity to be a part of this program,” Harrison commented. “I look forward to hitting the ground running and building on what is already a very powerful and innovative brand at Goucher.”
During his time with Alfred University, Harrison served as the primary media contact for men’s and women’s soccer, basketball and lacrosse while aiding in social media marketing and website administration. In addition, he served as the Director of the Saxon Pride Board, which was a platform to promote student-athlete community involvement and school pride.
“I feel my differentiated experiences in intercollegiate athletics can provide a fresh approach to the athletic communications efforts of the department, focusing not only on information dissemination but also fan experience and holistic marketing,” notes Harrison.
A 2013 graduate of St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY, Harrison received his bachelor’s degree in sport management. His professional experience includes a variety of roles within intercollegiate athletics at St. John Fisher College, the University of Rochester, and Alfred University.
