Erika Moyer Named Head Strength & Conditioning Coach

The Goucher College Department of Athletics has announced that Erika Moyer will join the staff in August as the schools first head strength & conditioning coach.

Moyer joins the Gopher athletic department from an almost two-year stint as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, Pa., where she began her tenure in September of 2016.

"I am extremely honored and excited to be joining the Goucher family," said Moyer. "I look forward to working with student-athletes and coaches to maximize athletic potential. I'd also like to thank interim Director of Athletics Andrew Wu and the entire search committee for the opportunity."

"Erika joining our athletics department is a huge deal for us," said Wu. "She has the expertise to help our student-athletes perform to their highest potential and I expect that her energy will inspire and motivate. I couldn't be happier to have her join our team and can't wait to have her put our athletes to work."

At Swarthmore, Moyer developed specific strength & conditioning programs for six different teams, while also teaching physical education classes to Swarthmore students, among other duties.

Moyer entered the college ranks after working for three years as the Fitness Center Manager at Fitness U in Harrisburg, Pa. Moyer also served as the head junior varsity and assistant middle school coach for the girl's soccer program at Central Dauphin School District in Harrisburg.

Moyer, who is in the process of earning a master of science degree in Exercise Science and Injury Prevention from California (Pa.), earned her bachelor's of science degree from Mansfield in 2013 in Sports Nutrition & Dietetics. While at Mansfield, Moyer earned four letters in women's soccer, where she earned All-PSAC Third Team accolades in 2012 while serving as team captain.

Moyer also holds the following certifications: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA), USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach Level 1 (USAW), Certified Speed Specialist (NASE-CSS), and CPR/AED/First Aid (American Red Cross).
