Goucher College has announced that Conor Trainor has been selected to serve as the school's Head Athletic Trainer. Trainor began his position at Goucher on July 2.
Trainor replaces the departing Jean Perez, who served as the Gophers' head athletic trainer since 2009. Perez has since moved into a position on-campus, as she now serves as Goucher's first Director of Student Wellness.
Trainor is no stranger to the Baltimore area, as he joined the Gopher family from nearby Stevenson University where he served as an assistant athletic trainer at the school for almost three years, beginning his position there in August of 2015.
At Stevenson, Trainor provided athletic training coverage, including prevention, recognition, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries, several Mustang teams, including men's ice hockey, women's soccer, men's volleyball, men's and women's golf, and men's and women's tennis.
Trainor also served as a member of Stevenson's NCAA Compliance Committee, acted as an administrator for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), as well as serving as a preceptor for athletic training students from Towson University.
Trainor came to Stevenson from a two-plus year stint at Drexel in Philadelphia, where he served as an assistant athletic trainer for club sports at the school from September of 2012 through July of 2015. There, he provided coverage for practice, games, and athletic training room hours for 36 teams and over 1,300 athletes.
Trainor earned his bachelor of science degree from Towson in May of 2012, earning a degree in Athletic Training Education. He went on to earn his master of science degree in the same field from Temple University in May of 2015. He currently resides in Reisterstown.
